Supreme Court confirms CAS Award regarding Lifetime Ban against former CBF President
On 23 March 2022, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court (the “Supreme Court”) published a new decision in the field of international arbitration (the “Decision”)1 dis-missing the action for annulment of the former presi-dent of the Brazilian Football Confederation (“CBF”), Ricardo Teixeira, against a CAS award of 14 Septem-ber 20212.
In the award, CAS had confirmed a lifetime ban from all football-related activities and a fine imposed on Teixeira by the FIFA Ethics Committee for bribery in connection with the awarding of rights to cover various South American football competitions.
